The Zinn Law Firm Supports Our Local Bay Area Bicycle Coalitions

Bicycling on country roads or urban areas of the San Francisco Bay Area can be dangerous. Because we experience this first hand in our work and our own rides every day, we know how important the work is of our local bicycle coalitions. These extremely valuable organizations are in the trenches every day advocating for more and safer bicycle access, more bike lanes, and for the general safety of those of us who prefer non-carbon modes of transportation. For these reasons, since 2003, The Zinn Law Firm has been zealous and active sponsors of the great work done by organizations like the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (SFBC), the Bike to Wherever Day 2024 – (marinbike.org), and Bike East Bay.

We understand that the great advances our local bicycle coalitions have achieved cost money to fund. In past years we have tried to do our part to support their work by being regular primary sponsors of such annual events as SFBC’s annual Golden Wheels Awards, the Marin County Bicycle Coalitions Bike to Work Day and Biketoberfest Marin Bikes and Brews in Fairfax – MCBC Event, and Bike East Bay’s annual Pedal Brewfest – Bike East Bay event held at Jack London Square.

We encourage you to visit the websites of these organizations, check out at all they are doing to make bicycling more accessible and safe in your community, and consider becoming a member, a volunteer, and supporter if you are not already.

Attorney Carter Zinn Has Been a Long-Time Advocate for Bicyclists in the Community Outside the Courtroom as Well

In addition to supporting the work of the Bay Area’s bicycle coalitions, Mr. Zinn has been widely active in promoting bicycle safety and access through his own community advocacy efforts outside the courtroom. For example, he spearheaded a informal subcommittee of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition on bicycle safety on the Golden Gate Bridge that ended up making a series of recommendations for how bicycling safety could be improved on this landmark, many of which were ultimately adopted by the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway Transportation District. As a someone who regularly rides to work across the Golden Gate Bridge, Mr. Zinn has also advocated to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and the Golden Gate Highway and Transit District against imposing tolls on bicyclists and pedestrian who use the Bridge’s sidewalks.

Mr. Zinn’s position on the Mill Valley Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission enabled him to join other bicycle activists in persuading the Transit Authority of Marin to approve those who successfully advocated for $14.75 million in recent funding to build a bicycle bridge and study building a bicycle underpass and other improvements at the Greenbrae/Highway 101 corridor.

Mr. Zinn’s work on the Mill Valley BPAC is currently focused on trying to improve bicycle and pedestrian traffic flow and competing uses on the Mill Valley-Sausalito Multi-Use Path; ushering through a Class II Bike Lane on Camino Alto Boulevard to enable faster-riding bicyclists on the weekend an alternative to the MUP to reaching the Camino Alto hill; and leading an effort to have Sycamore Avenue designated a Class III Bike Route to encourage and protect students to bicycle to Mill Valley Middle School safely. For reference to these projects and the other work of the Mill Valley BPAC, please see the public minutes and meeting agendas on the BPAC website.
