Attorneys Who Represent Clients in Serious Injury Cases

When Carter Zinn first opened The Zinn Law Firm in 2003, the practice represented persons injured in all types of injuries, including a number of automobile rear-ender cases resulting in whiplash and muscle strain. In fact, Mr. Zinn made one of his first marks in the San Francisco trial lawyer community when, in March 2005, in a case entitled Valandra v. Onderick, San Francisco Superior Case No. CGC 03-422534, he obtained over $185,000 for his client injured in a low-speed rear-ender collision in which the insurance company representing the defendant driver offered only $2500 to settle the case.

Since then, we have had other successes that have shifted our focus away from low-speed rear-ender cases. If you have been in such an accident, we can recommend a number of young, capable attorneys who, like Mr. Zinn over 20 years ago, are ready and willing to take on such cases. Today, The Zinn Law Firm represents persons suffering serious and catastrophic bodily injuries, including death; traumatic brain injury; paralysis; nerve injury, including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome; amputation; birth injuries to both mother and child; bone and joint injuries including injury to adjoining ligaments; injuries requiring joint replacement, such as knee replacement, hip replacement, shoulder replacement and radial head replacement; internal bleeding and injury to internal organs; and other injuries that otherwise limit our client’s daily mobility, recreational activities, or simple ability to enjoy their activities of daily living. We are also proud to have represented victims of sexual assault and date rape, including persons who have been drugged by their perpetrators by such drugs as Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) or Rohypnol (aka “Roofie”).

Traumatic Brain Injury Expertise You Can Count On

Traumatic Brain Injury, or TBI, occurs when some external force causes some type of brain dysfunction. It can often result from a violent blow or jarring to the head or other parts of the body, often referred to as a “closed head” injury. An object piercing the skull, or a shattered piece of skull, can also cause a traumatic brain injury (referred to as a “open head” injury). From the standpoint of lawyers who specialize in cases that often involve traumatic brain injuries, it is important to understand that sometimes a life-changing traumatic brain injury can be caused by a blow to the head or shaking of the body that does not pierce the skull or cause any bleeding or tissue injury that is detectible on a CT (computerized tomography) scan or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) study of the brain. In fact, in most of the TBI cases our office has handled that have resolved for six or seven-figure settlements or trial verdicts, our clients had clean CT and MRI studies. Yet their traumatic brain injuries were affecting their lives in profound ways that they and their loved ones were having trouble explaining or understanding.

Because TBI is hard to detect, in many cases, despite the best efforts of physicians, it goes undiagnosed. At The Zinn Law Firm, one of the things we specialize in is looking at the mechanics of how the injury occurred and looking closely at the medical file to see whether TBI is suspected or has been diagnosed by any of your treating physicians, or if you have complained of symptoms that may otherwise support a finding of traumatic brain injury. And we do not stop there. Learn more about our experience with traumatic brain injury and methods to determine TBI.
