For example, prenatal (prior to delivery) and perinatal (during or after delivery) hypoxia (lack of sufficient oxygen) can cause permanent brain damage to the child, including cerebral palsy, resulting in life-long developmental disabilities and challenges. Improper delivery technique can result in broken bones, or even spinal cord damage to the baby.
